Firstly May I say the balustrade design was chosen by the architect. Why then have we chosen to include such a basic design on our website?

Simply because the staircase has clean simple lines and has perfect balance. The staircase is enhanced by the elegant termination of the balustrade on the bottom treads. It also illustrates that a metal handrail can be equally as attractive as the more expensive hand carved handrails. A more elaborate balustrade of your choice could be added, as can a timber handrail.
