The Villa A South France Project
Working with a French Contractor on a beautiful house, located on a gated Golf Coarse in the south of France. For our first site visit, we were kindly collected from Nice airport by the architect and taken to the site. Unfortunately, he left after thirty minutes, leaving us to measure what can only be described as a bomb crater. We were also left with a £160 taxi fare to get back to the airport.

During our second site visit, we discovered that despite our request, a terracotta tiling system had been installed to the stair wells. This restricted our ability to fix back to the structure. Our design calculations and drawings were now redundant and had to be completely re-thought and re-drawn. At our third site visit, which was to make a final check on the agreed site dimensions, we discovered that the builders had finished the stair wells. Unfortunately they had been finished without the use of a tape measure, a spirit level and a plumb bob. So back to the drawing board we go! The stairs we had fabricated had to be adjusted again (fortunately they remained at our works).
The photographs of this beautiful staircase bears testament that Demax strive to deliver the highest quality even in the face of adversity. We even flew one of our installers out to fit one small panel of glass that had been manufactured incorrectly by the supplier, a job that any local labourer could have carried out. At no point was there health and welfare facilities on site. At least we had the use of the swimming pool! The clients were so pleased they only stopped £2,000 off our final account. You couldn’t even make that up! The lesson is, don’t get bitten by the same Frog twice
